How Much Does It Cost to Start a Private Label Activewear Line?
Understand the main cost drivers behind a private label activewear launch, from sampling and fabrics to branding, production and logistics.

There is no single price for launching a private label activewear line because the total depends on product complexity, quantity, fabric choices, branding and shipping. A useful budget separates one-time development costs from costs that repeat with every order.
Sampling is usually the first development cost. The number of styles, revision rounds, special trims and custom fabric requirements can change the total. Treat sampling as a product-learning investment and keep a written list of approved changes.
Fabric and trims are major production variables. Stock materials may support a smaller launch, while custom colors, specialty finishes and custom accessories can require additional minimums or lead time. Ask for a clear quotation by style, color and quantity.
Branding costs can include labels, hangtags, packaging and logo application. Simple branding may be sufficient for a first test, while a larger collection may need coordinated packaging and multiple decoration methods.
Production quantity affects unit economics. Small batches can reduce inventory risk but may have a higher unit cost. Larger quantities can improve efficiency but increase cash tied up in stock. Compare the cost of a controlled test order with the cost of holding unsold inventory.
Remember logistics and quality control. Carton packing, shipping method, inspection, duties and payment terms can affect the landed cost. A low factory quotation is not the same as a low total cost when these items are missing.
For a realistic estimate, send the product list, quantity by style and color, fabric preference, artwork and delivery destination. Honch Apparel can help turn an early activewear idea into a clearer sampling and quotation brief.
